Seeking companies with know how in biogas and fertilizer production plants, interested in collaborating within a project to be launched in Senegal

An Italian company skilled in planning and managing urban and industrial facilities, has carried out a feasibility study regarding a biowaste recovery project aimed at fertilizer and energy production to be implemented in Dakar, Senegal. The project is expected to be funded according to the Cotonou Agreement. It is looking for companies with know how in biogas and fertilizer production plants, interested to be involved in the project activities through a Technological Agreement.

The Cotonou Agreement is a treaty between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States ("ACP countries"). A contribution to sustainable development is a relevant aim of the Cotonou Agreement, that entered into force in 2003 and was subsequently revised in 2005 and 2010.

Since January 2018 the Senegal government has about 350 Meuros to be used for implementation of projects aimed at the reduction of poverty, while contributing to sustainable development and to the gradual integration of the country into the world economy.

An Italian company, that since 1971 has gradually enlarged their "know how" in planning and managing environmental and industrial facility, had the opportunity to get in contact with Dakar municipality and to have detailed information regarding the city problems related to the absence of plants and facilities that allow to recover waste and sanitize the urban area.

The local market in Dakar creates a high amount of organic waste on daily base. The waste should be treated and processed, in order to obtain fertilizer for agronomic use and biogas for energy production, allowing the cold storage of fruit and vegetable to be sold at the local market.

The company has already carried out a feasibility study regarding a waste recovery (280.000 tonnes/year) and fertilizer production project to be implemented in that area, and is looking for plant construction companies interested to be involved in the drawing up of the executive project preliminary to the call for tender. The company’s partners will have adequate experience and skills in biowaste recovery aimed at fertilizer and energy production, since their role will include the technical and operational project implementation.

The activities are expected to be funded within the National Indicative Programme set according to the Cotonou Agreement. The national government will launch a call for tender, and the European Commission will assign directly to the call winner the total amount requested for the project implementation.
